The top 8 advantages of Happyweight
1. It is a non-diet programme
It is a huge relief not to have to diet any longer. Stopping dieting is very liberating. In conjunction with balanced eating techniques and emotional eating resolution, you have a real chance of losing weight permanently too.
2. You can enjoy a happy relationship with food
It is marvellous to have peace of mind about eating. It really is. Having a good relationship with food means that you can get on with other things in life. Worries about weight can take over and food can become a tryant. You can feel a great relief when you are enjoying food appropriately.
3. Bingeing or overeating becomes a thing of the past
It seems surprising to many people how easy it was for them to stop, and what a weight off the mind it is. As long as you are overeating in response to emotions or for reasons other than hunger and sustenance, you have a feeling of not being in control. As you begin your journey through the Happyweight programme, you learn how to be relaxed with food and let go of unwanted eating.
4. Food becomes more pleasurable
On the programme, clients seem to enjoy a wider range of foods, as well as favourite foods and foods they banned under the “diet mentality”. They start to notice the tastes of food much more and eating is a pleasure in a way it has never been before. They are engaging with food in a new way and that can feel very exciting.
5. Your self confidence and self esteem increases
The programme promotes self-esteem and encourages you to find ways of enjoying life more so that food becomes less of an issue. Feeling good about yourself also helps you to be successful.
6. Your energy and vitality increases
This appears to result from a combination of factors: eating better quality food, eating more slowly and without stress, and not bingeing on sugary or carbohydrate foods that create fatigue. Some people say that they sleep better too.
7. Life expands and becomes more satisfying
Happyweight is a holistic programme. Weight problems do not exist in isolation. As you heal the issues at the heart of your weight and eating issues, you may discover that you feel more fulfilled in your life. When you are happy and fulfilled, it is easier to relax around food and eat with balance.
8. You start to enjoy your body more
As you begin to respect and care for your body you might enjoy new interests like exercise. You may care more for your personal appearance and grooming, and enjoy clothes. You might enjoy better sex. Whatever your preferences are, it becomes easier to enjoy being in your own skin. |

My journey in photos
Overweight from childhood, I had done every diet; you name it; slimming clubs, diet books, low carb, low fat, calories, fat units, food combining, slimming pills, liquid diets and more. Many times I had lost weight only to put it all back on again, usually with some extra. In fact, as the years went by, I just got fatter, reaching 15 stones in 2002. Weird that, because I always felt that I was, "On a diet".
I was very depressed with the endless cycle of dieting followed by disappointment. I was fed up with thinking about it so much. I was becoming a diet bore and somewhat a recluse too. I felt like a failure, and my body image and self esteem were at rock bottom. I knew I had to do something different. I had begun to realise that dieting was not the answer. I decided I would rather be 15 stones and proud than 15 stones and full of misery and self-hatred and constantly battling with myself. However, I still hoped that I could be slimmer. I knew I had to stop dieting though, and find another way because dieting was destroying me. Firstly, I knew that I had to get relaxed around food and build my self worth up. I had to stop focussing on the problem, and focus on the solution and on what had to change in my life.
I began working on myself, in the way that you will if you embark on the programme. I did a lot of personal development work, in conjunction with taking a relaxed and balanced approach to eating. I did not diet or deprive myself, in fact I started eating foods I had banned under the “dieting mentality”. I also started to move my body a bit every day by going out for a short walk with my walkman on.
I didn't weight myself for a while because I knew that the scales were terribly harmful to my state of mind. They could destroy my day and I didn't want anything to sabotage me. So I got rid of them and weighed myself in the chemist instead. After a few weeks I was thrilled to see that I had, easily and enjoyably, dropped 11 pounds of fat.
But I was even happier about my increased self-esteem, energy and good health. It was wonderful to wear nice clothes again, and to move without aches and pains. I went on to shed over 4 stones. Not only that, I got super fit, going from couch potato who could hardly walk ten minutes along a flat street, to doing aerobics every other day. I can't tell you how much it meant to me the day I walked for 6 hours across the rolling hills of the countryside.
Now, I am not skinny. I don't think I have the genetics to be so without extreme food restriction. I am a happy, healthy weight. My body image and confidence are so much greater. I feel good in my own skin.
I think we should accept ourselves at any weight, and have a balanced and healthy relationship with food.
We must develop an awareness of the undermining images from the media and reject those. They create insecurity and poor body image (and that makes money for companies that prey off people's insecurity and low self image).
We should be nurturing and honouring the person within, the soul that lives inside the body. It is who we are and how we live that is so important.
Dealing with our relationship with food, our bodies and our selves is incredibly healing and will impact not just on your weight, but your relationships and your happiness and fulfilment in general. Life is too short to waste a second on bad body thoughts.

Letters and Emails from clients
Hello Jude,
I just wanted to drop you a line and express my deep appreciation for the service you provide. I think it is sometimes so easy to walk away from a session or a series of sessions and not actually appreciate the massive shift that has occurred, especially when being coached by you, as you have an amazing ability to move me to a much better place emotionally and psychologically without causing the pain and discomfort I have felt when being coached by other therapists. You have a talent to make a deep rooted issue come up with ease.
Your outstanding knowledge of your area of expertise, particularly nutrition and the effects on the body and mind have also been enlightening for me and have saved me so much time in researching the information myself – I have definitely had a return on my investment from your knowledge alone. Add to that the techniques you have generously and openly shared with me and my life is now much richer than before.
I have benefitted so much from your openness, empathy, love and support, your generosity in giving so much of yourself is precious and unique in this world of take, take, take. I always feel replenished, nurtured and fully understood after a session with you.
Thank you for having the courage to follow your destiny, for your amazing skills and for sharing all of who you are and what you know, it is a privilege to work with you and learn from you.
You have given me the courage and support I needed to follow my own path and that is why I’d like to sincerely thank you for all you have shown me.
SM, Rugby, Warwickshire
The last time we spoke I discussed my goals that I have now achieved. I follow the principles without even thinking, they have become a habit. Food is no longer an issue to me and I have not binged for 6 months. My weight has adjusted naturally and I am now a healthy weight for my height. It seems strange thinking back to how I used to be.
JG, London
Things are truly magical at the moment. We had a beautiful wedding day, I couldn't have hoped for more and I lost 1 and 1/2 stones so I felt confident in my dress. We have just got back from our honeymoon and in many respects still feel like we are on it, apart from work and housework getting in the way. So, no grumbles, thanks for asking, and more importantly thank you for your help.
Ax
This is just a pre Christmas update since I last spoke to you. I have lost 14 lbs, I don't eat all the time. I'm eating what I like but just don't want as much plus the desire for comfort foods has vanished! Yippee. Thanks Sue
I have been fairly on top of the weight situation, just eating what I want, when I want, in a healthy and considered manner (is this normality??!!) and although I have not weighed myself (the scales still remain broken) I know I have lost weight as I have bought three pairs of jeans during the period of doing your Happyweight programme, each pair in a decreasing size - the last pair I bought were a size 16, so I know I am going in the right direction! I can't believe how easy it has been to get to where I am now, and I feel so strongly that I don't ever want to be in the situation I was previously, where food rules and affects every single part of ones life.
MW, Hastings
What was useful? Looking at eating in a different way and realising that it was ok to eat what I wanted, only to wait until my body told me it was hungry! I found keeping a diet diary very helpful; in fact I still use it now and find if I lapse that's when I start to have problems. It was good knowing that Judy was on the end of a phone if required, & the fact that she too has been bigger, so she can sympathise with your feelings. I found out that it's only human to have a bad day/spell & not to beat myself up about it, as life is full of ups & downs.
NS, Scotland
Judy's system helped me to understand how to get back enjoyment of eating again. The telephone support was great.
RP, Reading
Judy is very knowledgeable about the subject of eating and health in general. I gained a great deal of insight into my problems surrounding food and also my mental health after talking with her on the phone. Well worth doing the course - a really good investment in yourself.
AJ, Anglesea, Wales
Judy was able to assist in making dramatic improvements. I quickly and safely lost my excess weight and have since found it easy to maintain my ideal weight. My eyes are brighter and clearer, my hair once again appears healthy and, very significantly for me, my digestion and related processes are the best they have been since I was young. I now feel healthy in myself and have far more energy than before and am very thankful for Judy's help in completely transforming this area of my life.

Within just a few days of starting the Happyweight programme I felt a kind of freedom - having made the important decision to change my attitude towards food and eating. I felt free from the pressure of thinking about food all the time.
The freedom extended into my social life. I was able to enjoy going out again. I felt part of the group are not restricted by any unrealistic rules. The obsession about my weight that I had experienced for so long disappeared. I was able to focus on more important things and to get on with living. I enjoyed my food because I was eating what I wanted, what I felt like eating and not trying to adjust to any imposed regime. As a consequence meal times became enjoyable occasions.
The extra bonus to a generally happier life was weight loss. I was enjoying life, enjoying food, and at the same time, losing pounds and inches without the usual stress and anxiety that I had always experienced in the past with dieting.
EF, Hastings.
I can't think of the thing that would make it better. It contains all the key elements, most importantly, the one-to-one time on the phone to explore issues and gain more insight. Judy helped me understand that there is no need for guilt or self-hatred, a by-product of most programmes and the media's view on weight. For me, the programme encouraged self-respect and the ability to stand back and look at the underlying problems. With that knowledge, anything is possible!
MG, Scotland
If you are truly determined to stop the cycle of yo-yo dieting once and for all, my advice is to let Judy help you. She brings not only a wealth of expertise in the field of nutrition and weight management to bear but, above all, her own personal experience. She has finally conquered her own addiction to food; she will help and guide you to do the same!
Jennifer, Derbyshire
Jude has a calm and considered manner which gives me have confidence that we will always find a solution which works for me. I feel very held by her and appreciate her ability to help me feel safe even when working with difficult issues.
I always come away from a session with Jude with a new perspective and a supportive strategy to help me make better choices for myself. She has taught me simple and effective techniques which I often use to support me between sessions.
Situations in my life which have weighed on me heavily for years seemingly dissolve during the session and I feel lighter, happier and motivated when I leave.
EM, Battle, East Sussex
For years I have struggled with an eating disorder and have felt worthless. Following this course and the support and encouragement from Judy, I am now starting on a new journey to find the real me.
Anne
The Happyweight programme was very liberating. After years of diet of one sort or another I am now free to eat what I want and know when to stop and what my body needs. No longer a slave to my latest diet. The hypnosis CD was fantastic and relaxing but at the same time helped me focus in a very positive way on resolving my problems with food.
TLJ, Hastings.
I found the cds the most helpful along with the weekly phone calls. The calls kept me on track and made me rethink what I was doing.
The programme is a refreshing way of looking at how you can change your life for the better. You need to give it your commitment but in the end with the help of Judy you will change your thought patterns and become free from the diet shackles!
ZG.
Judy enabled me to explore the real causes of my weight problem, and I am confident that the work done during our sessions will have long-term benefits.

I found the session worked well for me and I am still implementing even more of it now, as I gained such an insight into what I could do.
TJG, Hastings
Happyweight made me feel more confident and positive. The hypnosis CD really helps when I am losing it, it pulls me back on line. Happyweight makes me feel happier.

My training and background
In 1997, I completed my training in nutritional therapy after many years of interest in the subject. In 1998, I added hypnotherapy to my qualifications after a life-changing experience of hypnosis.
In 2002, I began to develop the Happyweight programme. This was borne from my own frustrations with my weight and eating. Although I was a well qualified therapist by this time, I was still 15 stones (210 pounds) at 5'4". I began to examine my emotions, behaviour and thoughts around food and to heal my weight problem without dieting. As my weight changed and people began to notice, I started to help others with weight and eating challenges via a CD set and manual.
In 2002 I also began to practice the fabulous therapy known as EFT. I had a fascinating experience of this technique when a colleague demonstrated it on me. I had experienced a trauma which had left me very upset. Within five minutes of administering EFT, all the bad feelings had completely disappeared and I felt at peace. I immediately saw the power of this technique in assisting clients with phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder as well as the general pains that we all experience as a part of the passage of life. Since then, I have also found that it is really indispensible when working with eating and weight issues. I use it with almost all my clients.
In 2004, I learned the wonderful techniques of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Timeline Therapy and these added further to my toolbox to help me to help my clients to change more easily and quickly. I completed to the Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Trainer levels in NLP.
Then in 2005 I also completed my eating disorders training with the National Centre for Eating Disorders.
I am also an advanced Practitioner of EAV, a method of screening the balance within the body functions and organs via the acupressure points of the body.
I offer blood, urine and stool testing to clients if relevant. For example, a comprehensive metabolic screening can be indispensible for clients who feel that hormone imbalance may be behind their weight gain or inability to lose weight. This comes as part of the Platinum Package.
It has been a brilliant journey for me personally and professionally. I am passionate about what I do and I care very much that my clients should have a positive and an empowering experience and get the results they want.
